For some reason, the curve allowing through running from Glossop towards Hadfield is not shown in the 1960 Sectional Appendix. Built by the Duke of Norfolk without an act of parliament because it was entirely on his own land, the only connection with the Woodhead route was originally in the Sheffield direction. The connection was on a different alignment to today and allowed trains to serve Dinting Station. When the connection towards Manchester was opened the east curve was moved to its present alignment, the stub of the original curve becoming a part of the track layout at Dinting depot.
